Instructor Teaching

Instructor (Part-Time)

Position Summary:

Under the GUI instructors are responsible for delivering engaging and interactive coding classes to students. This role involves instructing fundamental programming concepts, fostering a creative learning environment, and ensuring students are both challenged and supported throughout the learning process. A structured curriculum and training will be provided.

Classes are held on after-school and on the weekends. Instructors are expected to commit to at least one semester (5 months).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver structured lessons in computer programming following provided curriculum.
  • Manage a classroom environment effectively, ensuring equal participation.
  • Encourage creativity and critical thinking through interactive exercises.
  • Maintain an engaging and supportive learning atmosphere.
Qualifications:
  • Experience with Unity, pixelpad.io, and/or other game development tools.
  • Proficiency in programming concepts with intermediate to advanced knowledge.
  • Ability to explain complex coding concepts in a simplified manner for young learners.
  • Prior teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
  • Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Vulnerable Sector Check required as per municipal regulations.

Summer Camp Instructor (July - August)

Position Summary:

Summer Camp Instructors at Under the GUI are responsible for leading coding, robotics, and engineering workshops in a fun and engaging manner. Instructors will guide students through hands-on projects that promote problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking. A structured curriculum and training will be provided.

Job Type: Full-time, July - August (with potential part-time weekend opportunities in winter and spring).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead interactive coding, robotics, and engineering lessons.
  • Manage classrooms of up to six or more students with diverse skill levels.
  • Encourage students to think critically and creatively.
  • Ensure an engaging and inclusive learning experience.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C#, Java, or HTML.
  • Prior experience with Unity, pixelpad.io or similar tools.
  • Currently pursuing or holding a degree in a technology-related field.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to simplify complex concepts for young learners.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check required.
